Akira GOMI "Yellows 1.0"

The series of "Yellows" was started for the magazine "PLAYBOY ( JAPAN )" by a photographer Akira Gomi in 1991. They were nude photographs of Japanese women in the 1990s. But the project was cancelled after two months, because of the problem of pubic hair. The pictures were supposed to be published as a monograph "Yellows 1.0" later, but it was stopped after it was all printed, because of the problem of pubic hair again.
We will exhibit the original vintage prints from "Yellows 1.0". The photographs of 56 women are put into 10 frames. And we will show a byobu-style work which is made of digital prints.

	Akira GOMI ( 1953 - ) Photographer. Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Nihon University College of Art Photography Course. 1977 moved to Paris and studied under Lawrence Sackman. 1983 returned to Japan and started to work for fashion magazines such as "ELLE JAPON" and "Ryuko Tsushin". 1993 published CD-ROM "Yellows". 1997 exhibition "August Sander and Akira Gomi" at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography. 2008 solo exhibition "YELLOWS Return To Classic" at Canon Gallery ( Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya ), "Akira GOMI Yellows 1.0" at Gallery Tok i no Wasuremono. .
