Photographer Eikoh HOSOE made a shocking encounter with Gaudi architectures in 1964. 13 years later, from 1977 he has photographed Gaudi architectures such as "Sagrada Família", "Park Guell", "Casa Batllo" and others over several occasions, and released them as "Praise for Gaudi". In this exhibition, we are presenting 20 vintage prints in color and monochrome, printed over 30 years ago.
■Eikoh HOSOE (1933-)
Photographer, the director of Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Art
1933- Born in Yonezawa, Yamagata prefecture (real name Toshiro Hosoe).
1952- His photograph, "Padie-Chan" won the first prize in the student group of Fuji Photo Contest. The award encouraged him to pursue photography seriously and later enrolled at Tokyo College of photography.
1953- Joined the artist's group "Demokrato".
1954- Graduated from Tokyo College of Photography.
1956- First solo exhibition. "An American girl in Tokyo".
1963- Publishes the book "Barakei (Ordeal by Roses)" which features Yukio Mishima.
1969- Published the book "Kamaitachi" featuring Tatsumi Hijikata, Butoh dancer.
1971- Published newly designed version of Barakei (Ordeal by Roses).
1975- Offered a professorship at Tokyo College of Photography.
1998- Awarded the Purple Ribbon Medal.
