Atsuko TANAKA

Born 1932 in Osaka. Left Kyoto Municipal College of Fine Arts (presently, Kyoto City University of Arts) in 1951. Studied at the Osaka Municipal Institute of Art. joined Zero-kai circa 1953-54. Became a member of Gutai in 1955 (Withdrew in 1965)."Atsuko Tanaka: Search for an Unknown Aesthetic, 1954-2000" was held at Ashiya Museum of Art & History and Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art in 2001.

Died in 2005 at the age of 73. The "Atsuko Tanaka: Works from the Gutai Era" exhibition was held at Galerie im Taxispalais, Galarie des Landes Tirol in 2002. The "Atsuko Tanaka. The Art of Connecting" was held at Ikon Gallery, Espai d'art contemporani de Castello, and Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo in 2011.
