ANZAI Shigeo

 

 

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1939. Graduated Kanagawa Prefectural Hiratsuka High School Department of Applied Chemistry. From the latter half of the 1960s, traveled the world taking portraits of contemporary artists and those related the art world, and capturing images of performances, happenings, and installations that would otherwise leave no physical trace.

 

Particularly well known for his series of the sculptor Isamu Noguchi. Published photo collections such as "The Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum" (1987) and "Homague - isamu Noguchi" (1992). Recorded are valuable images of works that can only be seen today in Anzai's photos. In 2000 the National Museum of Art, Osaka held a large-scale Anzai solo exhibition.
Passed away in August 2020.
