Hiroshi OGAWA

Born in Hiroshima Prefecture and trained by Ryokichi Mukai. He creates sculpture works using various materials including stone, wood, and metal. In 1967 he held “Paper Forms Exhibition” featuring objects made of paper. Kyuryudo published his volume “Paper Form”, which was awarded the Mainichi Shuppan Culture Prize.

In 1972 Ogawa became an instructor at Tokyo University of the Arts. In the 90s he produced epigraphs for wars and conflicts in Indonesia and Sakhalin. Ogawa explored new fields of creativity with paper, turning flat surfaces into three-dimensions and applying a modern sense of modeling into the medium of “paper”. He passed away on February 7, 2018.
